Mapungubwe National Park and World Heritage Site was on Friday, 20 May 2016 a hive of activity as the Park celebrated International Day of Museums and also Africa month. International Museums Day is celebrated annually on the 18th May and this year's theme was “Museums and Cultural landscapes”. Furthermore, it serves as a platform to raise public awareness of the role of museums, to play in the development of the society as a means of cultural exchange, to enrich cultures and to develop a mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among people, which also presents an opportunity for South Africans to reconnect and to support themselves of all government interventions to develop better Africa and a better world.
Africa is celebrated annually on the 25th of May to acknowledge the progress that Africa has made while reflecting on the common challenges faced. its calendar because Mapungubwe is first known African kingdom in Southern Africa
The interpretative center is built according to standards of constructing the environment.
The stone-walling technique used in the Mapungubwe area. The Park, therefore, hosted a week-long commemoration of the day from 16-22 May 2016 whereby free entrance to the museum was offered to everyone. This week-long commemoration culminated into the main event which was held on Friday, 20 May 2016 at the Park's day visitors' area. THE APPRECIATION OF THE MEDITERRANEAN CHURCH OF THE NEW YEARS. We are the first African Kingdom in Southern Africa and that is the knowledge that we need to transfer to our children.
